The Mason Hill Retreat and Hikers Hostel is located in north Berkshire
County in the town of Cheshire, and annually draws visitors and
guests from throughout the U.S. and around the world.
Long known for its authentic old Berkshire setting and its proximity to the
Appalachian Trail, Mason Hill is a favorite spot for people with a love
of Berkshire rural life and the outdoors.
Its boundaries encompass 10 acres of rolling fields and woodland, and
historic Kitchen Brook Gorge, through which the brook flows on its
way from Mt. Greylock to Cheshire Lake.
Here guests hold out-of-the-ordinary meetings or retreats
utilizing the large conference room in the fully renovated Mason
family barn, which includes modern kitchen and full bathroom facilities.
A large bunk room in the barn offers Appalachian Trail or day hikers comfortable
overnight accommodations, including a fully stocked library and bath
and laundry facilities. As an alternative to the bunk room hikers
may prefer to stay the night in a cabin or tent site.
Bikers on the Ashuwilticook Bike Trail also find Mason Hill a
refreshing and low-key "bike inn".
